A major challenge facing government agencies, integrators, and technology firms working with biometrics has been the lack of a simple, independent rating system for fingerprint, iris, face, voice and other technologies. To address this issue, IBG has established a Biometric Performance Certification program (www.biometricgroup.com/certification.html).

Biometric Performance Certification certifies commercial systems against benchmarks for both (1) accuracy and (2) usability. Biometric Performance Certification provides detailed yet easily-understood information essential to engineering teams, product developers, sales and marketing staff, and organizations managing RFPs and government tenders.

Biometric Performance Certification will be based on results generated through IBG’s annual Comparative Biometric Testing (CBT) initiative, the biometric industry’s leading multiple-biometric test effort since 1998.
