Senior Staff Scientist, Pattern Recognition and Image Analysis

Develop, implement, and optimize new image processing and pattern recognition algorithms for verification, identification, and spoof-detection based on multispectral fingerprint images. Key player in the planning of tests performed on sizeable volunteer populations. Responsible for the analysis and interpretation of data generated in such studies. Use the findings from such studies and other experimental work to improve and/or verify algorithmic performance.

Software engineering to implement computationally efficient algorithms Marketing to develop solutions meeting customer needs and product constraints Human testing to setup studies to evaluate and optimize performance characteristics Professional experience

Minimum 8 years of relevant, post-degree industry and/or academic experience. Demonstrated capability of implementing a variety of image processing and pattern recognition algorithms. Familiar with data-driven modeling and statistical classification methods (e.g. discriminant analysis, Bayesian methods, support vector machines, neural networks, etc). Knowledge of linear and nonlinear image processing techniques. Ability to program in Matlab, C++, and/or other modern languages required. Familiarity with multispectral imaging desired. Familiarity with biometrics, particularly fingerprints, desired.

Senior Engineer-Embedded Algorithm Optimization and Development

Develop embedded highly optimized digital image processing firmware for fingerprint recognition system. The successful candidate will work with algorithm designers to efficiently utilize DSP/ embedded processor architecture and resources to implement low latency image processing
algorithms on embedded platforms for a variety of product lines. The successful candidate will be well versed in all aspects of software life cycle including requirement definition, architecture design, implementation, and testing and have significant design experience.

Skills
- Significant experience optimizing code to achieve performance requirements on embedded processors and digital signal processors (DSPs) required
- Extensive Experience coding and optimizing complex algorithms for multiple DSP and embedded processor architectures required
- Significant experience with C or C++ or C# as well as architecture specific intrinsics and assembly languages required
- Experience with common image processing algorithms and methods
- Familiarity with TMS320C64xx digital signal processor platforms and development tools desirable

Professional experience
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in embedded software development and a minimum of 5 years of DSP optimization experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency in typical image analysis methods. Familiarity with common mathematical transforms such as Fourier, wavelet, morphological, Eigen analysis.
- Experience with biometric data highly desirable.

Professional qualities
- System level conceptual thinker- able to determine the most cost effective and expedient places to target optimization effort to achieve overall performance goals
- Can quickly prototype code for proof of concept vehicles as well as for evaluating/estimating relative performance of various embedded architectural approaches
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
